MJ Johnson is a documentary filmmaker based in Oakland, California. She works as an editor on independent documentary productions and can sometimes seen around the Town shooting videography.
​

She previously worked as a local reporter for the San Francisco Examiner and KQED, and created video content for The Oregonian. She serves as vice president on the SF Bay Area chapter board of the Asian American Journalists Association.

She received her B.A. in Journalism from San Francisco State University and Master's degree in documentary filmmaking at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
